Notes: Pink lemonade, early morning sun breaking through puffy cumulus clouds, berry parfait, open space, scratch n’ sniff stickers, late 80’s pink Barbie stretch limo with the pool in back, orris.

Fruity, luminous, and nostalgic, with a velvet-soft expansiveness and a lingering crystalline dryout. Batch no. 1 is bottled at full parfum strength, with enormous doses of exceptionally beautiful botanicals.

Perfumer’s Addendum: In my perfumery class for young people (Creating with Scent, an After School Matters advanced apprenticeship in Chicago), my students naturally gravitate towards maximal sweetness - syrupy fruity accords and sugary cotton candy and vanilla materials. Pink Cloud’s genesis was a quick raspberry lemonade sketch made in class as a demo. Under my students’ influence, and with an eye towards my own millennial childhood (and the undercover affection I felt for my sister’s very own Barbie stretch limo), I sought to create something unapologetically pink and plastic and powdery. A further inspiration towards maximum cosmetic powder power was Matt Morris’ 2024 solo show at Eric Ruschman, violet sissy fleur pinkie. After attending the opening, I went back to the studio and fully doubled the quantity of precious orris butter in the maturing formula, and Pink Cloud was complete.
